What we’ll be asking you to do…

Reporting to the UX / UI Lead, you’ll be embedded into our Digital Delivery organisation, supporting the creation, test and launch of new products and applications including mobile, tablet and web-based tools. You’ll work closely with front and back-end developers that are part of our internal team and our suppliers.

We’ll want you to work with the Sero Customer Experience, Branding and Technical teams to ensure that you capture and understand all of the requirements for our users. You’ll have the full support of the Sero team in generating new ideas and refining designs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing and maintaining the Sero UI component library in Figma to ensure consistency and speed up delivery
  • Ensure UI mockups and prototypes are ready in time for developers to be productive in sprint execution
  • Produce UX deliverables such as wireframes, user flows, and prototypes
  • Conduct discovery activities such as workshops, audits, and research
  • Advocate for user needs, UI / UX best practice and emerging trends
  • Present concepts to key business stakeholders to gather feedback and consensus
  • Use data to help drive design decisions
  • Collaborate with developers to QA coded design
  • Designing with web accessibility in mind
  • Work closely with Brand and Marketing functions, ensuring alignment between UX, UI and creative design

What we would like from you (please!)…

  • At least three years’ experience as a Product Designer, working with mobile and native applications. You’re used to working with sketches, prototypes, wireframes and process flows. Also confident in presenting ideas in writing and face-to-face
  • An expert in UI tools such Figma, Sketch or XD and proficient with the Adobe design package including Photoshop and Illustrator.  A basic understanding of software development would be a bonus
  • Must have a portfolio of previous work (online or PDF)
  • You’re an extremely capable Product Designer who is clear on the difference between UX, UI and creative and how to connect all three to deliver outstanding products. You thrive in a collaborative start-up environment and you’re always willing to learn and understand the problem we’re solving
  • A keen interest in sustainability, renewable energy and climate change is beneficial

We don’t mind if you’re an academic hot shot or got your passion and skill for design from the school of life. We’re simply after a passionate Product Designer with the ability to deliver successful experiences that solve every day, real world problems.

We want team players who’ll integrate well, pitch in to help others as needed, and make being at work at least something approaching fun from time to time.

We’re a small but growing business, and you’ll need to be self-motivated, completely trustworthy and able to manage your own delivery to hit milestones. You’ll be working on a broad range of products that service many different types of users across different platforms. Everything from hardware on-boarding for social landlords, to controlling home comfort with a native app that services residents in their homes.

You’ll have an instinct for good design, twinned with a thirst for data to ensure our products aren’t just attractive but are measurably engaging. You’ll also need a good grasp of the entire UX / design process from research and workshops to high fidelity design and delivery.

This certainly isn’t a head down delivery job: you’ll be collaborating with Product Managers, Product Owners, Digital Developers, and business stakeholders daily making sure that the design of our products support our Value Proposition and committed roadmaps.

We are changing our planet…

Sero was founded to make a connection between homes and energy, and to use technology to make both these easier and smarter together. We do this to save our customers money and to save them time, but we also do it to save our planet.

To tackle the Climate Emergency, we provide clever energy services that automatically reduces the carbon footprint of the homes we run.
