What we’ll be asking you to do… 

Our Home Data & Controls team are responsible for ensuring that we have the right technology to retrieve data out of our residents’ homes and to ensure robust and secure controls of appliances within those homes. This incorporates the design and distribution of our Building Energy Engine (BEE) and software partnerships pertaining to home and energy data collection and controls.    

 As a Technical Manager, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Ownership of BEE and Intelligent Energy System (IES) technical requirements for engagements with both internal and external designers and software developers 
  • Driving the telecommunications strategy, developing and testing optimal configurations for resilience and cost 
  • Supporting our operations team in troubleshooting customer incidents and problems  
  • Testing and documenting access capabilities for new integrations (API, MODBUS etc.) 
  • Working with M&E partners on validating IES / hardware design changes   
  • Building test rigs 
  • Creating technical guides and manuals for both internal and external consumption 

What we would like from you (please!) … 

To be successful in the job straight away you will need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related subject 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role  
  • Knowledge of the energy conservation industry  
  • Solid understanding of integration concepts and technologies  
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities  
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills  

 It would be great if you also had: 

  •  An understanding of telecommunication principles

Working Hours: We’re looking for about 37.5 hours per week for this role – what would generally be called Full Time. How that breaks into days or a working pattern is up to you.   

Working Times: Our policy allows working anywhere at any time, ultimate flexibility. We’d like at least some of your working hours to be coordinated with other internal and external team members to ensure we’re being efficient and communicating effectively. We think work should fit your lifestyle, so you can work when you can be most efficient.  

Location: We have an office based in Cardiff but every member of the Sero team has the option to work remotely, full time or part-time, depending on role and responsibility. We’re fully set up for virtual working and will work and support you in which works best for your work life balance. 

Salary: We’re budgeting up to £60,000 per annum for this role with opportunity to progress. This also depends on what we agree between us your preferred weekly total hours.
