The world’s first true net zero carbon in operation neighbourhood, the new homes will use a mix of very low energy building design, smart energy management and renewable energy technologies (including thermal and electrical storage, photovoltaic (solar) panels and ground source heat pumps) to reduce the energy demands of the homes and their residents. The scheme is backed by more than £2m from the Welsh Government’s Innovative Housing Programme.

“Ultimately, we are passionate about addressing the climate emergency and the role that the decarbonisation of homes can play in this, and are committed to challenging the status quo to demonstrate that it is possible to deliver higher quality, zero carbon homes and new neighbourhoods, that are better for both people and the environment.”

The homes will be available to rent through secure, long-term, index-linked tenures, and residents will normally have no energy bills making them more affordable that standard homes. It is anticipated that Parc Hadau will be ready for residents to move in by summer 2021.
